MariaKron, founded in 2011 by Verena Unbehaun, Cornelius Schwalm and Sophie Nikolitsch, chooses fresh perspective on current political topics and societal debates. Proceeding from dramatic texts, this independent performance ensemble is marked by a direct language on stage. At Theaterdiscounter and Theater unterm Dach Berlin, the works MONGOFLIPPER (winner of the Heidelberg Theater Prize), Penthesilea and Der Dämon ist ein umgedrehter Gott, amongst other works, have been created. In collaboration with MariaKron, Cornelius Schwalm realized the feature film Hotel Auschwitz, whose success was demonstrated in the 2019 Acthung Berlin Festival.
